The electric lawn edger is an essential gardening tool that allows you to easily maintain the clean edges of your lawn. Lawn edgers like the GreenWorks 27032 12 Amp Corded Edger usually rely on thrashing wheels and rotating wheel blades. There are typically two types of lawn edgers that you have to choose from – the electric lawn edger and the gas lawn edger. Your intended use will determine which type of lawn edger you should purchase.
While many people prefer gasoline edgers, just as many prefer the electric variety. We’ll discuss the differences between the electric lawn edger and the gas lawn edger below.
Electric lawn edgers come in two varieties. The first variety is the cordless battery-powered variety like the Black & Decker NST2118 Edger/Trimmer. These types of cordless lawn edgers are often powered by lightweight Ni-Cd batteries (like the ones on other power tools). The second is corded like the Worx WG895 Electric Lawn Edger or the GreenWorks 21212 edger/trimmer combo tool.
When considering an electric edger, it’s important to consider the size/shape of the area you will be edging. If you plan to maintain a larger area, a corded lawn edger could become limiting. In that case, you would want to consider a cordless electric lawn edger or a gas-powered edge since they both give you the freedom to go where you please. If you are only dealing with a smaller area, a corded electric lawn edger would also suffice.
All things considered equal, my preference is the cordless electric lawn edger. Because of the freedom it provides, a cordless electric lawn edger fits the bill for almost every application. That said, if you are looking for a lawn edger, I would suggest taking a look at the Black & Decker NST2118 cordless electric lawn edger.
